Avril Lavigne

Canadian pop star Avril Lavigne struggled with Lyme Disease. In what is more common than not, Lavigne saw countless doctors who couldn't figure out what was wrong with her. Lavigne said the doctors listed off countless diagnosis that it may be [in an interview with Good Morning America], "Chronic fatigue syndrome, or 'Why don't you try to get out of bed Avril and just go play the piano?' Or, 'Are you depressed?'" She was very emotional saying, "This is what they do to a lot of people that have Lyme Disease. They don't have an answer for them. They them your crazy." You can see the interview HERE.

Lavigne is doing better. This year she announced that she has signed with a new record label, BMG, and is planning on releasing a new album before the year is out. This will be the first album since her 2013 self-titled release. She said in an interview with Billboard Magazine "I've experienced a lot over the past few years, and some of the songs just came to me."

In January, 2016 Lavigne posted a message to her fans on her website thanking them for their support of the Avril Lavigne Foundation. A foundation she started to help provide Lyme Disease treatment to kids who could not afford care. The foundation grew to help other children and young people with disabilities. For the time being her foundation is on pause.

We're certainly happy to see Avril Lavigne getting back to what she loves the most, her music! The journey Lavigne took is all to familiar to Lyme Disease patients. All we want to do is to remind you and your loved ones if they have symptoms that can't be explained, consider Lyme Disease. You can check the Alberta Lyme Disease Association website for a full list of symptoms.
